The Ghana Police Service have confirmed the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the killing of two of the robbers on Wednesday 30th June 2021
These armed robbers were attacked and killed by the police at Ntoaso, a village near Nsawam in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The police also retrieved different kinds of weapons, these include, one AK 47 Assault riffle, a pump action gun, an M16 rifle, a shot gun, an 840 M16 gun, BB cartridges, a locally manufactured pistol and 2,882 rounds of ammunitions. Other deadly weapons include, machetes, knives, claw bar, sword and military camouflage uniforms.
The Director General of the criminal investigation department of the Ghana Police Service COP Isaac Ken Yeboah, made these statements in a press conference in Accra after the incident.
He indicated that, they embarked on the operation due to a tip off. The police acting on the tip off went to the camp of the armed robbers at Ntoaso, upon seeing the police, some of the robbers managed to escape. One of the robbers opened gun fire on the police injuring one police man in the process. The police however retaliated and gunned down two of the armed robbers.
He further asserted that one of the culprits was captured alive and has been brought to the police headquarters for investigations.
Meanwhile the two dead bodies have been deposited at the police morgue.
