As it stands now, many Ghanaians have lost hope in the system entirely. Meanwhile, key personalities who need to voice out, and boldly tell the Government to do the right thing in the country are “mouth-sealed” because they all are afraid of their lives.
Indeed, the recent happenings clearly show that powerful activists who confidently expose the dirty secrets of the Akufo-Addo-led Administration face various forms of attack, including assassination.
Since Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo assumed office as Ghana’s President in January 2017, so many innocent people have sadly lost their lives under his very watch.
A few months after he assumed Office, specifically on May 29, 2017, Major Mahama was painfully killed through lynching at Denkyira-Obuasi, when he was deployed to fight against illegal mining (Galamsey) in the area.
Such a humble and diligent young man and a father of two lovely sons left us so sadly.
A year later, four innocent girls were Kidnapped in Western Region. Three of them were residents of Diabene while one lived in West Fijai, all in Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality.
Ruth, 19, was last seen by her family at Diabene Methodist Church. She was Kidnapped in July, 2018.
Also, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, was kidnapped on August 2018 in Kansawurodo.
Ruth Love Quayson, 18, was captured at Butumagyebu junction.
Finally, Priscilla Mantseabea Koranchie, 15, was further kidnapped on December 21, same year.
We cannot forget University of Ghana’s renowned Law Lecturer, Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, who was assassinated at his Adirigano Residence in Accra on 12th September, 2020.
It was such a painful lost for University of Ghana School of Law, his family and Ghana at large.
In 2021, the assassination incidents have been worse.
Just this month, two legends have lost their lives.
Constable Emmanuel Osei, a young and vibrant police officer was killed by Armed Robbers, during a Bullion Van attack at Adedenkpo.
It was really a painful incident. As a peaceful nation, we never expected this to happen.
This was not the end of the rampant assassinations under the leadership of Akufo-Addo and his cabinets.
Ibrahim ‘Kaaka’ Mohammed, who was a powerful Activist of the #FixTheCountry Campaign Team was sadly killed yesterday, June 28, 2021, after receiving a number of threats from some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
The letter below throws more light on his sudden demise.
Meanwhile, two people have been shot dead today, June 29, 2021 while others have been severely injured following the protest against the killing of Legendary Ibrahim Mohammed at Ejura.
